EDUCATION ADVOCACY GROUPS
Class Size Matters A 501C3 non-profit organization that advocates for smaller classes in NYC’s public schools and the nation as a whole. Also advocates for greater parent involvement in decision-making and for strengthening student privacy protections. Coalition EDU Goal is to ensure that the community at large is educated on the extensive issues that plague the New York City Public Schools while protecting the SHSAT-only admissions policy for the Specialized High Schools. Education Equity Campaign Mission is to increase diversity at NYC’s specialized high schools by improving educational opportunities in every community, creating more specialized high schools across the five boroughs, and ensuring that every student—regardless of race, income, or background—has equal access to high-quality, publicly-funded test preparation. Integrate NYC A youth-led organization that stands for integration and equity in New York City schools. NYC ASID NYC Alliance for School Integration and Desegregation's mission is to advocate for city-wide, racial and socioeconomic school integration and desegregation. |
NYU Metro Center
The Metropolitan Center for Research on Equity and the Transformation of Schools is committed to social justice and the amplification of youth, parents, and community voices. PLACE NYC Parent Leaders for Accelerated Curriculum and Education demand a commitment to rigorous education options which prioritize full literacy and numeracy for all NYC students; an integrated school system with welcoming and supportive learning environments, increased high school graduation rates, and meaningful college-readiness. SDAG School Diversity Advisory Group was established by the DOE in June 2017 as part of the Equity and Excellence for All: Diversity in New York City Public Schools plan, to make formal policy recommendations to the Mayor and Chancellor.
